Stop eating so much.

In Okinawa, Japan, home to some of the oldest people in the world, long-term people leave the table with a slight sense of hunger when they are fed 80%, says the author of the «Blue Zones» Dan Buttner, who studies longevity across the planet.

Scientists at the University of St Louis have found that while exercise and less food intake lead to weight loss in research volunteers, caloric reduction also reduces the production of T3, a thyroid hormone that slows metabolism. Researchers believe that lower T3 levels may also slow down the aging process.

Make love.

Women who enjoy sex live longer, says Mehmet Oz, doctor of medicine, professor and vice president of surgery at New York Presbyterian-Columbia University, and co-author of the book «You Be Beautiful». In fact, doubling the amount of satisfying sex can add up to three years to your life, he says. «Sex gives you a moment of «zen», which you can not find during the day».

In a large study published in 2009, professionals who have tracked 6,583 people over 30 years have found that the presence of significant abdominal fat in the middle age can almost triple the risk of developing dementia.

Eat more plant food.

In his study of centenarians, Buttner found that the longest-lived people, who tend to eat less meat and more beans, soybeans, and nuts.
